How long have you been a coach at CrossFit Awaken?
Since the beginning of 2017.

How long have you been a die-hard CrossFitter?
I’ve been at Awaken since the summer of 2013 — started in the heat of the summer and I almost passed out the first time.  But I still went back for more!

What inspired you to become a CrossFit coach?
I enjoy learning and for me teaching is the best way to expand on that knowledge. Plus I absolutely love helping others achieve things they didn’t believe they could do.

What has been your best coaching experience so far?
There are by far to many to list, but every time I hear that PR bell ring or see someone perform something they couldn’t do just a few months before is amazing.

What’s the most common mistake you see among new athletes at your affiliate?
Chasing the Rx title next to their name when they are not ready, rather than being patient and trusting the process of becoming stronger, faster and more efficient.

If you could give someone new to CrossFit just one piece of advice, what would it be?
The importance of good mobility, it will save you from so many injuries.

Would you share with us your favorite tip or cue that we might find useful to use in our training?
Listen to your body. Learning the difference from soreness and pain, and talking about it with the coaches.

Do you have any success stories among your athletes you’d like to share?
Everyone has their own idea of what success is so everyday I’m at the box just talking with athletes and helping them is success to me.

If ‘David Estrada’ was a WOD, what would it be?
Some would think it would be all gymnastics but it would be a nice mix of Olympic lifts and gymnastics.

What’s your biggest goal and what are you doing about it?
I like to be a well rounded crossfit athlete. I practice as much as possible on my weak areas I find in my own fitness.

What is your favorite cheat meal?
All of them haha.

What is your favorite movement?
Squat Snatches or anything OLY

What is your favorite thing to WOD in?
LuLu gear with no shirt on.
